ALLES Ambassador Note – My Life as the ALLES Magazine Youth Ambassador
Written by Milla Preller

When I was seven years old, my parents and I packed up our lives and spent six unforgettable months traveling across South Africa. Looking back now, some of those memories have faded over time — but others have stayed with me like snapshots in my mind, moments that shaped the person I am today.
One of the clearest memories from that journey was visiting a venue that hosted gap year students. I remember watching these young people, probably around 20 years old, as they trained on high ropes courses suspended between massive trees. One of them climbed up a 35-meter obstacle, and without hesitation, I knew I had to do it too. I was only seven, but something inside me wanted to feel what it was like up there.
I climbed all the way to the top and sat quietly between two tall trees, looking down at the forest below. I felt like I was on top of the world — brave, free, and completely alive.
But then came the terrifying part. The instructors told me to lean backwards so they could lower me down. I was scared out of my mind, but I trusted those random 20-year-olds and did it. I let go, leaned back, and was safely lowered to the ground. That single moment taught me so much about courage, trust, and the power of pushing through fear.
To this day, that feeling of achievement reminds me to chase my goals, even when they feel impossible.

Fast forward to 2024, and another adventure came my way: my first visit to the Western Cape. It was everything I imagined and more. We started in Stellenbosch — a town so full of character, with beautiful architecture and a lively, welcoming vibe. From there, we made our way to Cape Town, where we spent time at the V&A Waterfront. I’ll never forget the boat ride we took that felt like something straight out of a pirate movie. It was fun, a little wild, and absolutely unforgettable.
We visited a monument that made me feel like I was walking through ancient ruins, which was so different from anything I’d ever seen before.
In Simon’s Town, we met the famous African Penguins — those adorable little creatures waddling along the beach. And of course, we treated ourselves to some of the best fish and chips you can find along the South African coast.
One of my favourite stops was in Paarl, where we visited an alpaca farm. Those quirky, lovable animals stole my heart. I learned about them while walking around the farm, feeding them and feeling like a character in my own storybook adventure.
These are just a few of the countless experiences I’ve been lucky to have in my 16 years.
So many of them have come through my role as the Youth Ambassador for ALLES Magazine — an opportunity that has shaped me into a person who’s always seeking adventure, new lessons, and fresh experiences.
Being homeschooled while travelling as often as we do have its challenges, but it’s also been the greatest teacher. I’ve learned so much through real-life experiences, not just from textbooks. Every new place, person, and adventure has taught me something valuable.
My parents have always made sure that wherever we go, there’s something for me to learn — whether it’s history, nature, or life skills.
I’m incredibly proud to be part of the ALLES Magazine family.
This publication has opened doors to adventures I could never have imagined and given me a platform to share my experiences with other young people across South Africa.
I can’t wait to see where the next chapter of this journey takes me.
